Southern Fried Chicken Better than KFC

In the recipe, you’ll learn how to make the ultimate fried chicken wings. These wings are marinated in buttermilk, then coated in a seasoned wet batter, and deep-fried golden brown perfection.

How to prepare Southern fried chicken

Place the wings on a surface and cut them up to your preferred size. Give the wings a nice wash using some lemon, vinegar, and water.

Now place the wings in a large bowl, add ¼ cup red hot sauce and buttermilk, use your hand to mix then cover with saran wrap for 30-60 minutes.

Drain out the buttermilk from the chicken. In the same bowl add purpose flour, chicken bouillon, paprika, Italian seasoning, onion powder, garlic powder, ground black pepper, and salt. Crack one egg and add to the mixture followed by club soda. Mix all the ingredients with the chicken until the batter is consistent. Cover the bowl with saran wrap for another 30-60 minutes.

Now take the chicken from the batter, and if there is excess batter make sure to shake it off. Dip the chicken in all-purpose flour until it’s completely covered with flour. Make sure to flour all the chicken before you start frying them.

Pour oil into a cooking pot and heat it up to 350 Fahrenheit. Once it’s nice and hot, go ahead and place the wings into the pot. Cook for about 10-12 minutes until they are golden brown. Enjoy!


  • 2 lbs chicken wing
  • 2 Cups All Purpose Flour
  • 2 Cup Club Soda
  • 1 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 Tbsp Salt
  • 1 Tbsp Italian Seasoning
  • 1 Tbsp. chicken bouillon
  • 1 Tbsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 Tbsp Onion Powder
  • 1 Tbsp Ground Black Pepper
  • 1 Tbsp Paprika
  • 2 Tbsp Hot Sauce
  • 1 large egg
