These recipe makes for delicious, light and fluffy donuts that are definitely the best donuts I’ve ever eaten. If you are new to donut making, this is the perfect donut recipe, and it doesn’t require too much expertise.

Classic Glazed Donuts
Ingredients:
For the Donuts
- 5 cups flour
- 1 ½ cups warm milk
- 1 stick unsalted butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 3 eggs
- 15g yeast
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- shortening, for frying
For the Glaze
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- 1 cup dry milk powder
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- ½ cup hot water

Classic Glazed Donuts
Directions:
- In a bowl, add the milk, sugar, and yeast, stirring to combine.
- In a different bowl, add the butter, eggs, and vanilla extract, stirring to combine.
- Add the milk mixture to the egg mixture and whisk to combine.
- Transfer the mixture to a large bowl and add in the flour in thirds, stirring between each addition.
- Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes, until smooth. (The dough is ready if it bounces back up from an indentation if you gently poke it with a finger).
- Place the dough in a large bowl and lightly coat the dough with oil then cover the bowl with plastic wrap and allow the dough to rise in a warm place for an hour, or until doubled in size.
- Take the dough out and knead on a floured surface for 5 minutes until smooth.
- Then place the dough back in an oiled bowl and repeat with rise overnight in refrigerator.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface until ¼ inch thick and cut out the doughnuts and donuts holes with a cookie cutter and piping tip.
- Melt enough shortening over medium heat to come up just 5 cm up on the side of a heavy frying pan. Heat the shortening to 190°C.
- Fry the donuts and donuts holes for 45 seconds on each side until they turn golden brown.
For the glaze:
- In a bowl, mix the powdered sugar, dry milk powder, vanilla extract and hot water until smooth.
- Strain the mixture through a sieve to remove any lumps.
- Then drizzle the glaze on your donuts.
