In this recipe, I will show you how to prepare the best-Braised pork ribs ever. The Braised pork ribs can be served with various sides, such as mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, or rice.
How to prepare Braised pork ribs
Place the ribs in a boiling water pot, keep it boiling for about 3 mins then remove them. Rinse under the water. Pat dry and fry them in a frying pan over medium-high heat with 4 tbsp of cooking oil until they’re golden brown. (Don’t cook it too long). Transfer to a bowl.
Add minced shallots and garlic in a skillet. Fry them until they lightly turn golden then remove them from heat. You don’t want to burn them.
Use a strainer to separate the oil and garlic with shallots. Add shallots and garlic into the rib bowl with the remaining sauces and spices except for white sugar, water, and garnishes. Combine and marinate for about an hour.
Heat a small pot over medium heat, and add white sugar with 2 tbsp water. Don’t stir and let it get caramelized. (Be careful, it can be burnt easily or undercooked)
Add in the marinated ribs and 300 ml water. Bring it to a boil and then keep it simmering until the sauce gets thickened.
Add another 300ml water and repeat the process until the ribs are soft and tender.
Sprinkle onions and chili. Serve with hot steamed rice. Enjoy!
